Reception at Islamabad Airport
The team of Hunza Guides warmly welcomes our valued clients at Islamabad airport. Of course HGP Guide offers flowers and drinks upon arrival of group at Islamabad airport.
Hotels, Islamabad ? Chilas- Skardu
HGP provides different hotels from 3 to 5 star from Islamabad to northern areas. These are tourist class hotels located in nice places. Especially Shangri La resorts are called heaven on earth.
Upon arrival to last villages we provide hotels near small cities because HGP staff and our valued clients need to finalize their purchasing and final packing before leaving cities. Also our clients would like to be closer with the local people and want to visit touristic places around cities.
Transport
HGP provides fully Air-conditioned transport from Islamabad to north Pakistan on Mattel roads and 4X4 Jeeps from remote areas to Villages.
HGP Team
All guides and cooks are from Hunza (North Pakistan). Guides and cooks are well trained in their profession through Alpine club of Pakistan. Especially Cooks are well -trained in Marriott hotel and each one is competent to provide European, Pakistani and local dishes while in Camps.
HGP Guide
The job of HGP guide is to lead our valued clients from Islamabad to base camps and back to Islamabad.
He provides all committed services transport, hotels, food, porters and equipment also he arranges fresh food from villages. HGP guide assists and informs rescue team and HGP office, in case of any problem occurred in the mountains.
HGP equipment
HGP provides D3/V sleeping tents while in camps, actually these are 4 men tents but HGP provides as double tent. Absolutely it is luxury tent for 2 persons. D3/V means, dome 3pax tent with big vestibule.
HGP provides Mess tent, Kitchen tent, toilet tent, tables and chairs etc.
Kitchen utensils
HGP provides tea Mugs, Plates, spoons, forks, table knifes, sweet bowels, soup bowels, washing bowels, pressure cooker, cooking pots and other required utensils.
Satellite phone permit
(i) Foreign Expeditions are allowed to use Satellite phones in base camp but it is required to apply for permit 40 days before arrival to Islamabad. HGP will assist to get satellite phone permit from PTA Islamabad. The fee for satellite phone permit is approximately 500 Euro.
Thuraya Satellite phone
(ii) There is new satellite phone name is Thuraya and it doesn?t required permit from ministry of tourism. Just need to buy line from Islamabad. Thuraya is Swiss made, please consult for the price in your country. Many climbers buy from Pakistan because it is cheaper in Islamabad. Approximately line and hand set costs 800US$.
(iii) Digital camera and GPS are not allowed to bring Pakistan. Only normal movie cameras and Walkies talkies are allowed.
Climbing Permit
Approximately it takes 40 to 60 days to obtain climbing permit for each expedition.
Just we need Filled Annexure A and B from you and HGP follow the process to get climbing permit with M/O tourism Islamabad. We are sending you blank Annexure A and B please fill and send by fax or scan copy by email.
50th Anniversary of K-2 (8611M) in 2004
Pakistan is celebrating 50th anniversary of first ascent on K-2 in 2004.
Ministry of tourism is working on this especial event and printed material will send you later.
Royalty Fee for 2004
We are glade to inform you that Government of Pakistan has notified 50% reduction of Royalty Fee for all scaling peaks in Pakistan for 2004.
It is a golden opportunity for all climbers to organize expeditions in half royalty Fee, already we have sent you the list of Royalty fee for different scaling peaks.
Environment fund
Every mountaineering party irrespective of its size shall contribute 200 USD or equivalent in Pakistani currency for environment protection Fund with Ministry of Tourism. Which is included in HGP given cost.
Pollution Tax
Mountaineering parties shall also deposit refundable amount of 1000 USD or equivalent in Pakistani currency in the authorized National bank in Pakistan on account Ministry of tourism. The amount would be subject to forfeiture in full or in part thereof in case of expedition or any of its member?s causes damage to environment.
Low altitude porters
Low altitude porters are included in given cost. Each porter carries 25 KGS from the first day trekking point to an end. Ministry of tourism fixed the Porter wages, food, equipment and their insurance policy as well.
High altitude Porters/ Sharpa?s
We have professional high altitude porters/ Sherpas who already climbed above 8000mt Peaks in Pakistan. The price for each High altitude porter is 1600 Euro. These high altitude porters establish advance camps and carry high altitude equipment and food from BC to above high camps.
Liaison officer wages/ kit (equipment)
LO WAGES- 30 USD in cities and 15 USD in villages or camps. According to the rules and regulation of Ministry of tourism, one Liaison officer has to accompany with each expedition. Expeditions have to bring liaison officer equipment and pay his wages. However we have included in given cost the L.O. wages, accommodation, food in hotels, transport, camp food. Just expedition has to bring his equipment according to below given list.
Best period for climbing
Hunza Guides propose summer climbing period between 20th May to end of August. (Not early not late)
Rescue Facility
There is rescue organization called Askari Aviation who provides helicopters for Rescue operations in north Pakistan especially for trekkers and mountaineers.
Askari Aviation is only one company who provides Rescue facility in Pakistan. Retired professional army soldiers established Askari Aviation in Islamabad, they provides Pak army Helicopters for rescue operations.
Please note that the rescue operations take place only from base camp at the altitude of 5000m, and not above.
The procedures of advance reservation for Rescue operations are as follows.
1- each expedition has to deposit 6000 USD cash with Askari Aviation before leaving capital for mountains and they Issue the rescue number. In case of not used Askari Aviation services it is refundable amount.
2- If expedition cannot deposit 6000USD then the 2nd option is Askari aviation accepts guarantee letter from concern Embassy Islamabad.
Note- International insurance copies are not acceptable for Askari Aviation.
Hunza Guides need insurance copies of each client to process the case in case of any Rescue operation involved.
Custom clearing agent and store equipment
If you would like to send climbing equipment by cargo then HGP can assist to get your sent equipment from Islamabad airport and will store in HGP office.
The Fee of custom clearing agent is not included in given price, the agent charges depend on the total weight and value of equipment. The equipment should be sent one-month advance.
Coleman/Primus Gas (Butane/ Propane Gas)
We have Coleman/primus (Butane/Propane gas, which is 250 grams, and each cartridge costs
8 Euro in Islamabad, Please let us know how many cartridges would you need. Thanks
Foreign Currency
Foreign currencies are fluctuating day by day. Now-a-days Pak Rupee is little stable. Especially we don?t know that what will be the exchange rate of Euro in 2004.
Food Menu During Camping
HGP team will provide you below mentioned food while in camps. Professional cook is making daily menu from below mentioned food list and inform tour leader. HGP Assure you to provide quality food with professional clean kitchen staff.
Local dishes can be providing according to choice or taste of our valued clients.
Each morning Kitchen staff will give you wake up call with cup of tea and hot water for washing. Regularly you will get boiled water for drinking and your water bottles will be filled each evening.
Note- Please write us if need any especial item to increase in your food list.
Break fast
Porridge /Quaker Oats -Corn Flex - Musuli /Alpen - Marmalade -Apple Jam -Mango Jam -Mix Fruit Jam - Honey -Coffee-Black/Green /Milk Tea - Paratha -Local thick Bread /Chappti -Eggs /apricot porridge.
Lunch
Tuna -Cheese -Sardine -Corn Beef -Hunter Beef -Fruit Cocktail -Peaches -Pears ?Mango Slice- pine Apple -Candies -Drinking Chocolate -Magi Noodles -Mix Fruits -Tang -Oval Tine -Peanut Butter ?Biscuit Cream ?Biscuit Sweet-Crackles Biscuit -Tikki Biscuit -Pakoda -Samosa -Chips -Green /Black Tea- Dry Fruits /seasonal fresh fruits. Note- Normally we provide hot lunch in base camp and cold lunch with hot soups and tea while trekking.
